Frequently asked questions

Updated:

The questions anime fans and AniRadar users ask most. If you can’t find yours, write to us.

How can I find out which anime it is from just a screenshot?

Open the “Upload screenshot” tab and choose, drag or paste (Ctrl+V) the image. AniRadar compares it with a large database of anime frames and tells you the series, episode and approximate minute. A similarity of 90% or more is usually correct.

Can I search for an anime by describing the plot?

Yes. Type what you remember in the search box, for example “a boy with a notebook that kills people”, and AniRadar searches an index of thousands of series and shows the most likely matches. No account or keys needed.

Where can I watch an anime legally in my country?

Pick your country with the globe icon and open the series page: the “Where to watch” section lists the official platforms where it is confirmed in your country, with a direct link. Availability data comes from JustWatch.

Why is an anime not available in my country?

Broadcast rights are sold by country and by period. A series can be on one platform in one country and on another next door, or disappear when its licence expires. Check again later: catalogues change every month.

In what order should I watch seasons and movies?

If it is your first time, follow release order. On the series page, “Watch order and sequels” links prequels, sequels and movies; if it says “No prequel: you can start here”, that is the natural entry point.

When does the next episode air?

The home page shows popular releases for the next seven days with a countdown, in your time zone. Times are the Japanese broadcast converted to your local time; they can change if there are delays or breaks.

How can I get a reminder for an episode?

Press the bell on a card: a reminder file (.ics) with an alarm ten minutes before is downloaded and opens in your phone or computer calendar. You can also save series to see only the ones you follow.

Is AniRadar free? Do I need to sign up?

It is free and needs no account. Your list, language and preferences are stored only in your browser. The site may show discreet ads to support itself, always labelled and never over the content.

Does AniRadar have the episodes to watch here?

No. AniRadar does not host or play episodes: it tells you where to watch legally and links to the official platform. Only trailers are played, using the YouTube player.

Where do the synopses and data come from?

Series pages and the calendar come from AniList; availability and official synopses in your language from JustWatch; and scene recognition from trace.moe. We do not use machine translation: if there is no official synopsis in your language, the original is shown and labelled.

I can’t find my anime in the search box. What should I do?

Try the title in English, in romaji (for example “Shingeki no Kyojin”) or a description of the plot. If you remember an image, upload it as a screenshot. Remember that each season sometimes has a different title.

Can I import my Crunchyroll lists?

Yes. From the “Crunchylists” button you can paste the titles or use the one-click bookmarklet; AniRadar recognises them and adds them to your list. Everything stays in your browser.

What does “simulcast” mean?

It is the release of an episode on an international platform shortly after its premiere in Japan. Other terms (sub, dub, cour, OVA, ONA…) are explained in the Spanish-language anime glossary.

Why is the synopsis in English?

When there is no official synopsis in your language we show the original from AniList and label it, instead of using an unreliable machine translation. For well-known series you will see the official synopsis in your language and, for sequels, the one for that season.

How do I change the language or country?

Press the globe icon in the header. The language changes the interface and synopses; the country changes where availability is checked.

Can I install AniRadar on my phone?

Yes. AniRadar is an installable web app: in your browser menu choose “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”. It also opens offline with what you last viewed.

How do I delete my data?

Everything AniRadar stores is in your browser. You can clear the cache from Settings → “Clear cache” or delete the site data from your browser settings. There is no account to cancel.

How do I report an error in the data?

Write to us from the contact page with the series and the detail. Data comes from third parties, but we review everything we receive.
